We happily announce the online opening of the first SHARING WATER exhibition – a pop-up event hosted by the House of Switzerland in Multilateral Vienna. The exhibition is product of a cooperation with Swiss Ambassador of the OSCE and UN in Vienna, Wolfgang Brülhart. The online opening event will provide both a virtual tour through the exhibition and insights into the world of international water diplomacy.
Short statements by Vuk Žugić, Coordinator of Economic and Environmental Activities of the OSCE , H.E. Bruno Georges, Secretary General of the Central Commission for the Rhine of the Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine and Ambassador Guy Bonvin, Swiss Special Envoy for Water in Central Asia, will provide insights into aspects of their work.
The conversation between OSCE staff member Sogol Jafarzadeh and artist Klara Hobza (“Diving through Europe”) reveals the different perspectives and working methods of the OSCE and artistic research at the example of the river Rhine.
The exhibition SHARING WATER focuses on the main European water divide in its hydrological and cultural
hydrological and cultural significance with contributions by six artists, curated by the project’s initiator Regina Hügli: Stefan Fraunberger (A), Anne Glassner (A), Klara Hobza (CZ), Barbara Anna Husar (A), Elisabeth Schmirl (A) and Nives Widauer (CH).
The current exhibition was made possible by the personal commitment of Swiss Ambassador Wolfgang Amadeus Brülhart. During a lockdown, Ambassador Brülhart decided to use his residence and garden for art presentations, creating a unique presentation space that could be used during the restrictive times of the pandemic.
Ambassador Wolfgang Amadeus Brülhart:
“Water diplomacy is one of the priorities of Swiss foreign policy. I am pleased to welcome an
artistic contribution by Regina Hügli and her colleagues in the garden of the “House of
Switzerland in Multilateral Vienna.”
